Tinubu to attend G-20 summit in India
President Bola Tinubu is set to attend the G-20 Summit in New Delhi, India, from September 9th to 10th.
Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, announced on Friday while briefing State House correspondents at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. that the trip aims to attract Foreign Direct Investment to Nigeria.
During the summit, President Tinubu will host a round table with over 20 CEOs from major industries across multiple sectors of the Indian economy. He is also expected to meet with Heads of State from Germany, India, South Korea, and others on the sidelines of the G-20.
“We brief you today on His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s preparations for the upcoming G20 Summit in New Delhi, India on September 9 to the 10th of this month. The focus of the Summit will be heavily predicated on the urgent need to attract foreign direct investment in-country and to ensure that we are able to mobilize private capital from around the world toward the development of Nigeria’s public infrastructure” Ngelale said.
Ngelale stated that the focus of these engagements will be on critical sectors of the Nigerian economy, including steel development, electricity generation, transmission and distribution, shipyard building capacity, and other labor-intensive industries. The goal is to create as many jobs as possible for Nigeria’s youth population.
In addition to these meetings, President Tinubu will meet with Nigerians living in India and deliver remarks to the entire summit, including Heads of State and business leaders from around the world.
