Wike’s issue will be addressed soon – PDP
The Peoples Democratic Party has stated that it will soon respond to recent statements made by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
In his first address to the media after being sworn as the minister of the FCT, Wike stated that he had received support from party leaders to accept his appointment.
In an interview with Channels TV, Wike also stated that the PDP cannot sanction him for serving in the All Progressives Congress-led government. He emphasized that governance is not about party affiliation and that he is an unrepentant PDP member who supports fairness, equity, and justice.
When asked about the possibility of suspension, Wike dismissed the idea, stating that he should call for discipline of those who violated the party’s constitution on rotation.
Wike’s statements have led to calls for his sanction, and PDP spokesman Debo Ologunagba has responded.
In a phone conversation with The PUNCH, Ologunagba stated that the party is taking its time to react and will make its response public when ready.
“As a party, we will address the issue very soon. We heard what was said and we are taking our time to react. I can assure you that as soon as we are ready, we will make our response public.”
