JAMB bars schools from selling admission forms
The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board has issued new orders to Nigerian universities, polytechnics, and colleges regarding admissions.
JAMB made this known to the general public in a statement released on its handle on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Part of the statement read, “All applications of admissions to First Degree, National Diploma, National Innovation Diploma and the Nigeria Certificate in Education into Full-Time, Distance Learning, Part-Time, Outreach, Sandwich, etc., must be processed ONLY through the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
“No Institution should advertise or sell “application forms” for admissions into the programmes.”
ATTENTION!!!
CESSATION OF ILLEGAL/IRREGULAR ADMISSION
All applications of admissions to First Degree, National Diploma, National Innovation Diploma and the Nigeria Certificate in Education into Full-Time,— JAMB (@JAMBHQ) August 23, 2023
JAMB said these institutions must stop selling part-time, distance learning, and other alternative admission forms directly to applicants.
The examination body also said it would enforce the policy through the National Universities Commission, National Board for Technical Education, and National Commission for Colleges of Education.
The directive applies to universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education. However, JAMB did not provide a reason for the sudden policy change. However, it comes as schools conclude their sessions and open admission portals.
