PHOTOS: Tinubu visits Osinbajo in Abuja
The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, paid a surprise visit to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Thursday night.
Osinbajo’s aide, Laolu Akande confirmed the development in a statement released on his Twitter handle.
“We got a call: Asiwaju Tinubu who was visiting President at his Presidential Villa residence this evening will be making an unscheduled stop at VP’s residence also.
“Lagos Gov accompanied him & VP received the surprise with some of his associates who he was meeting with earlier the meeting was one of the pleasantries and very convivial. The meeting lasted about 30 minutes,” he tweeted.
Tinubu’s visit quells suggestions of a rift between himself and the VP who had been deemed a traitor by many for contesting against the former Lagos State governor who has been widely regarded as his political benefactor.
Osinbajo contested the ruling party’s presidential primary against Tinubu and came third after the poll with the APC national leader clinching the ticket with a landslide victory, polling 1271 votes.
Reacting, Bashir Ahmad, a former aide to the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari(retd.) hailed Tinubu’s move to reach out to Osinbajo.
“This Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s unscheduled visit to Prof. Yemi Osinbajo really made sense and it was timely, it will settle a lot, unite and put the house in order. We are one big family,” he tweeted.
