JUST IN: Wife of Lagos commissioner Prof Olatunji-Bello named as LASU Vice Chancellor
Prof (Mrs) Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, wife of Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tunji Bello, has been named the ninth substantive Vice Chancellor of the Lagos State University.
A Professor of Medicine, Olatunji-Bello had served as Acting Vice Chancellor of the institution before her elevation.
Born in Lagos on April 23, 1964 into the family of Chief and Mrs Eniola Ibidapo, from Owo in Ondo State, Mrs Olatunji Bello had her primary education at the Anglican Girls Primary School and secondary education at the Lagos Anglican Girls Grammar School in Surulere.
After she finished at Lagos State College of Science and Technology, the don proceeded to the University of Ibadan where she bagged a Bsc in Physiology.
Ibiyemi took up a job as a lecturer and rose through the ranks in the College of Medicine of the University of Lagos, Idiaraba.
She assumed duty as the first Professor of Physiology in Lagos State University College of Medicine on 2 October, 2007.
Her husband, Tunji Bello, served as the Secretary to the Lagos State Government under the administration of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.
He is currently the Commissioner for Environment under the Babajide Sanwo-Olu-led administration.
