Manchester United and Southampton shared the point at the Saint Marys Stadium following a 1-1 draw on Sunday afternoon.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men started the game on a high note and came close early after a Paul Pogba header nicked the host’s bar but the Red Devils failed to replicate the form that saw them thump Leeds United 5-1 at Old Trafford last week.

United were more threatening up in goal for most part of the game before a sloppy defending led to an own goal by Fred, giving the Saints the lead against the run of play in the 30th-minute.

Bruno Fernandes pleaded for a foul after he was disposed but the referee saw otherwise before Che Adams saw his strike deflected off Fred beyond David De Gea into the back of the net.

However, the visitorscharged back in the second half and got an equaliser through Maso Greenwoodin the 55th minute.

Paul Pogba and Greenwood has chances to give United the lead but failed and the introduction of Jadon Sancho did little to beat Southampton’s goalkeeper.

Meanwhile De Gea denied Armstrong later on tp keep United in the game which eventually ended in a 1-1 draw.
