The National Emergency Management Agency has urged Lagosians to beware of the potential sale of burnt canned food carted away by urchins at the scene of the Eko Bridge fire incident in Lagos State.
WuzupNigeria reported that goods worth millions of naira were reportedly destroyed after a number of shops were gutted by the fire incident under the Apongbon section of the bridge on Wednesday morning.
Reports revealed street urchins also known as “Area Boys” carted away with some of the burnt canned food which NEMA has suspected could be re-distributed to other markets in the state.
The Head, Lagos Territorial Office of NEMA, Ibrahim Farinloye said, “The public is hereby urged to be wary of tomatoes paste, margarine and sardines when purchasing such products.
“The public is to be informed that some canned products already burnt in the current fire outbreak may be put on sale by unscrupulous traders.
“The public is hereby urged to be wary of tomatoes paste, margarine and sardines when purchasing such products.”
