PHOTOS: Sanwo-Olu seals Havillah centre where kegs of petrol were shared as souvenirs
Officials of the Lagos State Government stormed the Lekki area of the state on Saturday to seal off the Havillah Event Centre in Oniru for contravening public safety rules.
The centre has been identified as the venue where kegs of Premium Motor Spirit popularly called petrol were handed out as souvenirs to party guests on Friday.
Recall that WuzupNigeria reported that the party was organised by Chief Dr Pearl Chidima Ogbulu to celebrate her installation as Erelu Okin of Orile Kemta by His Royal Highness, Oba Tokunbo Okikiola Gbadegeshin Tejuosho.
Exclusive footage and photographs from the glamourous event went viral on social media but it was her choice of souvenir amidst the ongoing nationwide fuel scarcity that attracted many criticism.
Afterwards, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s called on the appropriate authorities to look into the viral video, noting that an adequate sanction would be meted out.
This is according to the Lagos Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Gbenga Omotoso.
Speaking on Saturday, OImotoso established that there was no doubt that the action was dangerous .
He also argued that the action could have led to loss of lives and property, and it was against all safety measures in such places.
As of the time of filing this report, Lagos State Government said it has commenced a probe into the matter and had ordered the Commissioner of Police to arrest all suspects involved in the act.
Below are photographs of the Havillah Event Centre in Lekki showing the event banner and government officials sealing up the premises.
