JUST IN: Ethiopia’s Geleta Ulfata wins Lagos City Marathon, clinches N12.5m prize money
Ethiopia’s Geleta Ulfata has been announced as the winner of the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon.
Ulfata is an instructional facilitator at Gofa Industrial College in his home country.
He clinched the gold medal at the male category with a time of 2.11.58 to beat David Barmasai of Kenya who clocked 2.13.27 and Naibe Emmanuel, another Kenyan who returned at 2.14.42.
Ulfata is to be awarded $30,000 (N12,510,300) prize money while second-placed Barmasai would be given $20,000.
The third prize winner would receive $15,000.
