No fewer than 11 people have been sentenced to death by hanging by a high court in Niger State on Tuesday.
The Nation reported that the 11 persons were found guilty of the killing of seven people during a land dispute in the state about three years ago.
The bloody attack occurred in the Gaba community of the state in December 2018.
The criminals were said to have come from the Anfani community in Lavun council.
During the trial, Justice Maimuna Talatu Abubakar found the defendants guilty of culpable homicide punishable under Section 221 of the penal code, which attracts the death penalty.
Vanguard reported that the 11 criminals were found guilty of the nine counts levelled against.
Meanwhile, about 15 others who were charged to court in Minna on October 7, 2019, following the Gaba attack were discharged and acquitted.
According to Justice Abubakar, there were no substantial shreds of evidence preferred against the other 15 suspects.
