Kaduna police probe murder of prison officer by soldiers
The Kaduna State Police command has commenced investigation into the murder of a correctional service officer, identified as O.O Bawa.
This was confirmed by the spokesman, Nigerian Correctional Service, Francis Enobore.
According to The PUNCH, Bawa was shot dead by operatives believed to be soldiers at a checkpoint at Goni Gora in Kaduna.
Bawa, an Assistant Superintendent of Corrections, and his friend were said to be riding in a Toyota Venza SUV when the incident occurred on Wednesday.
The deceased who was sitting in the front passenger seat was reportedly shot dead because the driver of his vehicle refused to stop for a search earlier at an army post along the Kaduna-Abuja Expressway.
Confirming the probe, Enobore said, “I can confirm that the officer was shot and investigation has subsequently commenced towards unravelling the person that did the shooting. The police are assisting in this regard.”
