An Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court on Thursday remanded a 33-year-old man, Uchenna Igbwe, in prison for allegedly raping of a minor.
The Magistrate, Mrs Omolola Akosile, did not take the plea of the accused as there was no legal representative to stand for him.
Akosile referred the matter to the Director of Public Prosecution for legal advice and adjourned the case until July 2 for mention.
The accused, whose address was not provided is standing trial on a charge of child defilement.
The Prosecutor, Inspector Monica Ikebuilo, had told the court that the accused committed the offence on May 14 in Ado-Ekiti.
The prosecutor said the accused lured the four-year-old girl and raped her.
Ikebuilo said the offence contravened Section 31 (2) of Child’s Right Law of Ekiti State, 2012.
