The Anambra State Government has adopted Saturdays to replace Mondays as school days on the State academic calendar.
This was confirmed in a memo issued by the State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Don Adinuba, on Monday.
In the circular titled, ‘Anambra State Government Approves Saturday as School Day,’ Adinuba announced that the approval takes effect from October 30.
The development is coming against the background of Mondays’ Sit-at-home order imposed by the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra in solidarity with its embattled leader, Nnamdi Kanu, in the Southeastern region.
According to Adinuba, the governor approved the Saturday classes to ensure students academic sessions are nit affected because the government is passionate about learning.
The memo partly read, “I am directed by the Executive Secretary to inform you that the Anambra State Govt. has approved Saturdays as school days in place of Mondays.
“All HMs are to notify teachers, pupils as well as parents about the new development. Quality Assurance supervision and every other supervision henceforth will hold on Saturdays.
“Every game permission for absent from classes on Saturdays must be addressed to the Executive Chairman ASUBBEB through the Executive Secretary following due process. Saturday classes will commence on 30/10/21 ie next week.”
