A fatal road accident has killed two commercial motorcyclists, popularly known as okada, along Agbaluku road in Arigidi-Akoko, Akoko North-West Local Government Area of Ondo State on Thursday.
It was gathered that the deceased okada riders had a head-on collision and they both died on the spot.
According to an eyewitness, one of the okada riders attempted to overtake a school bus and in the process, hit another okada rider coming from the opposite direction of the road.
The eyewitness said, ” The accident happened as a result of recklessness. There have been high incidences of road accidents in the Agbaluku axis of the road to Ajowa Akoko. Many drivers drive recklessly without caution because the road is good. This is bad.”
The Unit Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Ikare Akoko, Mr Ade Alabi, attributed the cause of the accident to recklessness and lack of patience.
He called on commercial motorcyclists in the area to always use helmets saying the two casualties suffered head injuries.
It was gathered that the remains of the deceased had been deposited at the morgue of a hospital in the area.
