On Thursday, to celebrate the completion of the one-month Ramadan fast and this year’s Eid-el Fitr, the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), stepped out together with his wife, Aisha, for the first time in many months.
In a series of photos shared via Buhari’s social media handles, the President and the First Lady were seen flanked by their children and their spouses.
In separate photos, the President was also seen with lads young enough to be assumed to be his grandchildren.
Buhari, in a string of tweets, congratulated all Muslims on the occasion of this year’s Eid festival.
He stressed ‘unity and solidarity among all citizens, Muslims and Christians.’
The President also prayed that this year’s Eid festival will bring with it peace, safety, security, brotherhood and love amongst others.
Of note is the fact that for the first time in many months, the President and the First Lady were seen together in public.
A report by WUZUPNIGERIA stated that the First Lady left the Presidential Villa, Abuja, for Dubai in September 2020 and stayed there for about six months before she quietly returned to the country in March 2021.
While many believed her departure was linked to her being at loggerheads with the President’s aides and close relatives in recent time, the First Lady’s aides claimed she had gone to Dubai for medical treatment.
