The stage is set for an all English final in this season’s Champions League final between Chelsea and Manchester City to decide who reclaim the cup from Bayern Munich.
An intense battle between last season’s finalist, Paris Saint-Germain and City saw five goals scored in the two-legged encounter with Riyad Mahrez netting three goals to sink the French giants 4-1 on aggregate. The Algerian sits on the top scorers’ chart with four goals in the tournament.

The second semi final between Chelsea and 13-time champions, Real Madrid, produced four goals in two legs as the Blues sailed into the final 3-1 on aggregate but all goals were scored by individual players.

With top stars like Kyllian Mbappe, Karim Benzema, Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Mohammed Salah and Sadio Mane out of this year’s competition, the top scorer’s award is billed to go to a fresh name.

PSG’s elimination put Mbappe out of contention for the top scorer’s award leaving Chelsea’s Giroud with an uphill task to win; he’ll need to score five goals in the final.

Should he fail to register a single goal in the final the award would go to the current top scorer, Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland.
