Chelsea might be missing the services of their former phenomenal player, Eden Hazard, at Stamford Bridge but the club is reportedly making up for the Belgian’s absence financially.
The Sun UK reported that Roman Abramovic’s London club has pocketed an extra £20million from Hazard’s move to Madrid with the Spanish side yet to get the value of their transfer money on the pitch.
Owing to a huge list of injuries, the Belgian who switched to the Bernabeu in June 2019 for a whooping initial £130million has played just 20 league starts since his move, scoring just three goals.
Nevertheless, while Madrid are paying the price for his absence, Chelsea is raking in cash from the 13-time Champions League winner, thanks to the savvy add-on clauses included in the deal.
The Athletic reported that Chelsea’s earning from the deal has upped by an extra £20m on top of the original £130m transfer £150m to after Real Madrid won the league title last season and qualified for the Champions League.
Chelsea will also be due another profitable sum if Madrid win the Champions League this season, although the 30-year-old contributed just one league goal last season and made three assists.
Hazard could however face his former side for the first time since joining Madrid when Thomas Tuchel’s side face Zinadine Zidane on Tuesday night in the first-leg of their semi-final European contest.
The Belgian is just returning from his FIFTH injury this season at the weekend after playing just 13 minutes in the 0-0 draw with Real Betis.
