Officers of the Enugu State Police Command have arrested two suspected armed robbers terrorising the people of Udenu Local Government Area of the state.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP. Ebere Amaraizu disclosed this in a statement in Enugu on Monday.

Amaraizu said that one of the suspects was arrested on April 14 sequel to intelligence information at about 1: pm in Amalla community of the local government area.

He said that the police recovered a Vox Wagen Gulf-3 car, one locally made double barrel pistol and one live cartridge from him.

Amaraizu said,

“The suspect is alleged to be behind several violent crimes such as snatching of motorcycles, robbing people of their mobile phones and other valuables within Udenu and its environs.’’ 

The police spokesman said the suspect had been helping the police in their investigation, adding that the second suspect was arrested recently in Iheakpu community of Obollo-Afor following intelligence information.

The PPRO said that the suspect was also arrested with a locally made pistol with one live cartridge.

He said,

“Intelligence information gathered revealed that the suspect is a member of armed robbery gang operating in the area as well.’’
