Unified world heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua, has hailed Lawrence Okolie who defeated Krzysztof Glowacki to claim the World Boxing Organisation cruiserweight title on Saturday.
Okolie, a British pugilist of Nigerian descent, handed Glowacki his third career defeat with a massive knock-out punch in the sixth round at Wembley Arena on Saturday.
Joshua who recently signed a two-fight deal to face Tyson Fury in the much-anticipated undisputed world heavyweight title fight, took to Twitter to celebrate his Nigerian brother, Okolie.
“Congrats family’, Anthony Joshua tweeted with a fisted hand.
In the same vein, the Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, took to her verified Twitter handle to celebrate Okolie.
“Congrats to Lawrence Okolie @Lawrence_tko who perfectly knocked out Krzysztof Glowacki to become WBO world cruiserweight champion,” Dabiri-Erewa tweeted.
The 28-year-old Londoner became the first male member of Britain’s 2016 Olympic squad to claim a professional world title, with Okolie unbeaten since joining the paid ranks.
The Polish fighter’s knock-out is Okolie’s 13th career knockout in 16 professional fights.
