ALLEGED FRUSTRATION! Mobile policeman travelling from Lagos to Port Harcourt commits suicide
An alleged frustrated mobile police officer has jumped into Ore River in Ondo State as the bus driver parked for the passengers to eat before continuing their journey, PM Express reports.
An eyewitness who didn’t want to be named said the policeman boarded a Muyi Transport Company bus from Lagos and they were going to Port Harcourt when the tragedy happened.
The witness who is also a passenger on the bus said the driver parked at a restaurant close to the river along the expressway, and other passengers went inside to eat and probably use the restrooms when the policeman went straight to the bridge across the river, took off his shoes and jumped into the river and got drowned.
Reports said that the incident which happened on Thursday afternoon at about 1. pm left sympathisers wondering what could have propelled the yet to be identified officer’s action.
He said,
“People around saw what happened, they raised alarm. He had already drowned and there was no rescue team around to save him. The people then recovered his pair of shoes, the matter was reported to the police and the driver continued with the journey.
The driver reportedly recovered the bag of the police officer which he left inside the bus containing his other uniforms and personal effects. It was not yet confirmed if the police authority had contacted the deceased family.”
Meanwhile, passengers on the bus said the policeman was very quiet before they got to Ore where he jumped into the river.
The passengers expressed diverse opinions on what could have led to the man’s action, some believed he was undergoing serious challenges and due to the frustration, he decided to take his life.
