Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp has dropped an injury update on his injured first-team players, including Vigil van Dijk who is out of the season.
Speaking during the prematch conference ahead of the Reds’ Champions League clash against Ajax, Klopp said Van Dijk’s knee was not looking normal.
Recall the Van Dijk suffered a knee ligament injury after a careless challenge from Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford in the Merseyside derby in October.
The Dutchman had since undergone successful surgery to the injured knee, according to the club.
“Considering the circumstances he is doing well but the knee doesn’t look good,” Klopp said, adding that “it doesn’t look how a knee should but looks okay considering the surgery he had.”
Speaking further, Klopp says he expects midfielder Thiago Alcantara, who was also injured in the Merseyside derby, to return to full fitness in few weeks.
Klopp also added that Trent Alexander-Arnold who picked up a calf injury against Manchester City is expected to return for the club soon, though he didn’t give a specific date of return.
“Trent looks quite good… I saw him on the pitch doing his rehab stuff so that already looks good but I cannot decide when it will be finished. From what I saw today, it won’t be much longer,” Klopp said.
The English right-back has since resumed on-pitch rehabilitation since the injury he picked up last month.
