#EndSARS: Not sure govt corruption left youths enough money for drugs, says US journalist, Clancy
An American journalist, Jim Clancy has faulted the comments by a Lagos lawmaker, claiming that most Nigerian youths are high on drugs.
Mojisola Alli-Macaulay, Amuwo Odofin constituency 1 of Lagos State, made the statement while commenting on the aftermath of the hijacked #EndSARS protest during plenary at the Lagos State House of Assembly.
Responding to the claims on his official Twitter handle, Clancy who is a former CNN correspondent said he’s not sure that the youths have enough money to buy drugs as a result of the government’s corruption.
Hmmm. Actually, I’m not sure that official government corruption has left young Nigerians with enough money to buy drugs…even if they were inclined.
Clancy also chipped in what the #EndSARS movement set out to achieve by saying that “All evidence suggests they want a police force that protects rather than exploits them.”

Nigeria witnessed about 12 days of protests in multiple cities against police brutality as youths call for a total reform of the police force.
The protest was however marred by attacks on protesters by hired thugs, hoodlum activities, including looting and vandalism as well as the Lekki toll gate shooting by soldiers on October 20.
