Nigerian defunct music duo, Psquare and Ugandan President, Yoweri Museven, have paid tribute to one of East Africa’s most popular musicians, Mowzey Radio, who died after a reported bar brawl.
Peter wrote, My heart goes out to the entire Ssekibogo family and Ugandan music lovers and Fans.Just heard about the passing of Mowzey Radio. R.I.P. Bro.
“You were a Man of great Talent and you will be missed.R.I.P. #RipRadio #MowzeyRadio.”
Paul also wrote, “Rip radio ( Ugandans best vocalist).”
Radio died at Case Hospital in Kampala where he had been admitted after reportedly being beaten into a coma following a fight at De Bar, a local hang-out spot last week.
Thr hospital where Radio died released a statement. It read, “The management of Case Hospital regret to announce the passing of Moses Ssekibogo alias Moze Radio today 1st February 2018 at 6:00 am,” read part of the statement issued by Case Hospital.
This comes just hours after President Museven contributed Shs30m towards his treatment.
“The management of Case Hospital acknowledges the payment of UGX 30,000,000 received from H.E The President of the Republic of Uganda @KagutaMuseveni.
“We are grateful for this generous deed of contributing to hospital bills for the amazingly talented Ugandan vocalist Radio,” read part of the statement from Case Hospital.
Last week, police said they had arrested five people to help with their investigations into the beating of Radio.
The announcement of his sudden death sent shock waves to fans of the late musician.Many took to their social media pages to write condolences.Many also shared their favourite songs from his album.
Photos on Twitter showed a large group of mourners gathering outside the Kampala hospital where he died.
President Museveni was among those to pay tribute to the singer. He was among the artists who contributed to a song in support of the politician during the 2016 elections.
