Davido’s mother died of cardiac arrest, cocaine overdose – Kemi Olunloyo
Journalist Kemi Olunloyo has said that singer Davido’s mother died of “cardiac arrest secondary to cocaine use overdose.”
She made this known after the singer revealed in an interview that his mother who died on his father’s birthday died of “just cardiac arrest.”
He said:
“I was about 10 to 11 years old when she died. She died on my father’s birthday. Honestly, it was just cardiac arrest. Even if it was going to happen, I would not have known because I was about 10 or 11 years old. She was not really sick. She used to get sick once in a while but it was nothing serious.
“I often say that I see my mother in Chioma. I did not grow up with my mother. I can hardly remember what happened when I was that young.”
Reacting to the singer’s words, Kemi Olunloyo said that “there is always a story behind a story” and that she was present when his mother died.
She tweeted:
“There is always a story behind a story. Vero Adeleke died of a cardiac arrest secondary to cocaine use overdose. I was there on his father’s birthday and yes David was 10. I told the story on #SurvivingDavido. She was an Edo state woman and sheltered by her husband.
“It was a tent outside parties. No one could find her. She was locked up in the room. Some of u think I’m attacking David’s mother instead of focusing on the message of the sad life she lived. At her funeral David’s eyes were dry in shock. As we left a huge tear came to his eyes.”
