Woman kills four-year-old daughter for talking back at her
A 31-year-old Florida woman, Tina Farrington, who allegedly suffocated her four-year-old daughter and threw her body in a dumpster has been charged with first-degree murder.
The body of Taina Paige was found by a man who was throwing out garbage on Sunday.
According to a Miami-Dade Police statement, the man found Taina’s body inside the trash bin at the Tuscany Place apartment complex southwest of Miami.
Tina Farrington was held without bond Monday at the Miami-Dade County jail on a first-degree murder charge.
Farrington allegedly suffocated Taina with a pillow on Halloween after becoming angry with the girl, according to an arrest report.
The woman was home with Taina and the child’s younger brother when the alleged killing took place around 7 pm, Tina became upset after Taina talked back to her.
She then ‘lured’ Taina and her brother to her bedroom, where she used a pillow to suffocate her daughter, police said.
Police said Farrington hid Taina’s body in the trunk of her 2013 Nissan Altima until she noticed a foul odour.
Farrington then allegedly moved the child’s body early around 1am on Sunday to the dumpster in her apartment complex.
Investigators said they were able to see bruises on her arms, legs and torso, despite the child’s body that had begun to decompose.
According to police, Farrington confessed to killing Taina. Jail records did not show whether Farrington had an attorney.
The family set up a GoFundMe account for Taina. It has raised more than $12,000 for the child’s family.
