Ondo 2020: PDP guber candidate vows to end APC’s reign
Following the emergence of Eyitayo Jegede as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, during the party’s primaries in Ondo State on Wednesday, he has sent a quit notice to the Candidate of the All progressive congress, Rotimi Akeredolu, stating that the end of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has come in the State.
Jegede, who stated this shortly after his victory during the shadow election, said with the support of the party, as well as that of the co-aspirants, the eviction of APC from the state come October 20, 2020, will be achievable.
He said:
“By the support of the people of the state, party members and the assistant of co-aspirants, we will take over the government of Ondo state, come October 2020.
“I dedicate this victory to the people of Ondo State and my co-aspirants who have shown great spirit of sportsmanship.”
Jegede had on Wednesday defeated the embattled Deputy Governor of the state, Agboola Ajayi in a keenly contested primary.
Jegede, a former Attorney General of the state, was the PDP candidate in 2016. He lost the 2016 governorship election to the incumbent governor of the state, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
With his emergence as the PDP standard bearer, Jegede will again be contesting against Akeredolu who is seeking re-election in the October 20, 2020 polls.
