Fleeing Covid-19 patients arrested in Kano, two still at large
A fleeing coronavirus [COVID-19] patient has been arrested in Kano State, the Director Infection Control AKTH/Chairman, Risk Communication Committee on COVID-19 said on Wednesday.
The arrested patient is one of the three who tested positive in the state and went into hiding, says Prof. Isah Abubakar.
He said the arrested coronavirus patient had been taken to one of the three isolation centres in Kano while the remaining fleeing patients were still being trailed.
“Two of the three patients are still at large by they are being trailed by the DSS personnel and as soon as they get them, they will be arrested,” he said.
He said the State Taskforce committee on COVID-19 was working with security agencies with a view to tracing the fleeing patients and take them to the designated isolation centre.
He expressed serious concern over the attitude of the fleeing patients which he noted could endanger the lives of others in view of the deadly nature of the pandemic and the way it quickly spread.
Recall that the three persons went into hiding after they changed their places of residence and switched off their phones.
