COVID-19: Kaduna shares N500m free food to residents, reads riot act to Malams harbouring Almajiri
Commissioner for Human Services and Social Development in Kaduna State, Hafsat Baba has warned Mallam (Quranic teachers) against harbouring almajiri in the state.
The Commissioner said anyone caught would be made to face the full wrath of the law.
She spoke in an interview on Kaduna based local radio – Nagarta radio, monitored on Wednesday.
She said no fewer than 20,000 almajiri had been moved fr the state to their state of origin by the state government.
The commissioner noted with sadness that one of the almajiri got drown while attempting to evade the authorities.
She also announced that so far, the state government has distributed free food worth N500 million during the lockdown.
She explained that the palliatives would reach the target population through their leadership.
