Close non-essential parts of market, Peter Obi begs market women
The 2019 vice-presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP], Mr. Peter Obi, on Tuesday appealed to market leaders nationwide to close down the non- essential parts of their markets.
He, however, advised that essential parts such as drugs and foodstuff should not be closed down.
He stated that closing down the markets is one of the preventive measures towards curtailing the spread of the deadly coronavirus in Nigeria.
Obi in a statement also commended the actions taken so far by various levels of government.
He expressed satisfaction with the increasing awareness among Nigerians.
He said that, with the gory stories in some parts of the world, this was a time Nigerians should make sacrifices by deliberately curtailing all acts that are capable of increasing the transmission of the virus.
The former Anambra State governor appealed to traders to shut markets nationwide, except those dealing on essential goods and foodstuff.
Obi also said the closure of schools and other institutions was necessary to save lives.
