Recall that some churches in Africa have shut down because of the virus.
Some persons have opinionated that several pastors in Ghana and Nigeria have employed electronic ways of asking members to part away with their money in the form of tithes and offertory since the ban was imposed on social gatherings.
On this note, Port-Harcourt based blogger Richard Idasenibo Chigbo singled out Rev. Alex Uzor of Christ Anglican Emudo Nenwe for criticism after he asked social media users to pay their tithes online.
He wrote:
This Christ Anglican Church Emudo Nenwe Pastor/Rev Father is a thief and needs to be arrested asap. I can’t believe someone can be this insensitive and heartless. The whole world is bleeding right now, fighting the COVID19 and some pulpit bandit wanna take advantage of it. The FG temporarily banned every social gathering, and all this thief could do is this.
