Police arrest three men for alleged gang-rape in Ekiti
The police in Ekiti State have arrested three men for allegedly attacking and gang-raping a lady in Ado Ekiti, the state capital.
Ekiti State Police Commissioner, Asuquo Amba, said that the men, Sola Adeyiwola, Michael Oladipo, and Samuel Ogunlade, were arrested for alleged rape and cultism.
Amba, who spoke on Friday while parading some suspected criminals alleged that “the trio were arrested by his men at about 12 noon after attacking a lady and forced her into an uncompleted building at the Olorunsogo area of the state capital, where she was gang-raped”.
The CP, who said that the three suspects had confessed to being members of Eiye Confraternity, disclosed that they had as well admitted that they actually committed the offense.
Amba also paraded one John Okafor for allegedly attacking two students of the Federal University, Oye Ekiti, Olasehinde Taoheed Olawale and Peter Lucky and forced the victims to transfer N7,000 to his United Bank for Africa Account No 2141886420, at gunpoint.
The police commissioner said, “The case was immediately reported and the police went in search of the suspects.
“On 24th of February, 2020, John Okafor was arrested and he confessed to the alleged crime and mentioned one Kingsley as his accomplice,” Amba said.
He assured that “as soon as investigations are concluded, all the suspects arrested shall be charged to the court of law for prosecution”.
The police boss, who enjoined Ekiti residents to be security conscious, vigilant and report any untoward incident or happening observed in their locality to the nearest police station”, disclosed that his men also recovered two Toyota Camry cars with registration numbers AKD 981 FN and KRD 316 CF at Ido Ekiti’ after being stolen at an unknown locations.
