Dethroned Emir, Sanusi arrives Lagos
The dethroned Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi Lamido, has arrived in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial hub.
Sanusi’s final destination and where he would be residing is unclear.
It was gathered that his accommodation is located somewhere in a highbrow area on the island.
It was also gathered that the choice of Lagos was to ensure he was safe and in a state where he would be able to attend events, interact freely with political and business leaders.
“Basically, to resume his normal life and continue to speak on Nigeria’s problems and ways the country can be better,” the source said.
Governor Umar Ganduje dethroned Sanusi on Monday. He announced Aminu Bayero, as the 15th Emir the same day.
The court had ruled that Sanusi be freed from detention where he was banished to under heavy security.
Earlier on Friday, Kaduna Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, visited Sanusi in Awe, Nasarawa State.
The duo rode to Abuja in El-Rufai’s car, from where Sanusi flew to Lagos
It would be recalled that within 48 hours of the ouster, the governor gave Sanusi two appointments.
He named the former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor the Vice Chairman of Kaduna Investment Promotion Agency, KADIPA.
El-Rufai also appointed Sanusi as the Chancellor of the Kaduna State University (KASU).
