A 24-year-old man, Idris Oyawale, on Friday appeared before an Osun State Magistrates’ Court, sitting in Ile Ife, for offences bordering on housebreaking and theft.
The defendant allegedly stole a Samsung phone that cost N250,000 in the house of one Adewale Lola.
The defendant, who was arraigned on three-count of conspiracy, housebreaking and theft, was remanded in Nigerian Correctional Centre in Ile Ife, as the court refused to grant his oral application for bail.
Prosecutor, Sunday Osanyintuyi, while addressing the court, said the defendant committed the offence on January 7, 2020 at Oranfe Area, Ile-Ife.
Osanyintuyi said Oyawale conspired with others that had not been apprehended to commit housebreaking and stealing.
According to him, the defendant stole one Samsung S8 mobile phone belonging to one Adewale Lola, valued N250,000.
Osanyintuyi further said that the offences allegedly committed contravened Sections 383, 390(9), 412 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
After listening to his plea, Oyawale pleaded not guilty to three-count charge pressed against him.
His counsel, Martins Awe, applied for his bail and assured that Oyawale would provide reliable sureties.
In his ruling, Magistrate Joseph Owolawi ordered that the defendant be remanded in Nigerian Correctional Centre, Ile Ife.
He subsequently adjourned the matter till March 13, for ruling on bail.
