Men of the Anambra State Police Command have rescued a 14-year-old girl abducted in Onitsha, Anambra State 27 days ago.
The Police also arrested three suspects, including a woman, in connection with the teenager’s abduction.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Haruna Mohammed, on Monday, said the victim was allegedly raped by the suspects while in their captivity.
He said the command’s SARS trailed and arrested the suspects at their hideout in Ogidi in the Idemili North Local Government Area of the state.
He gave the names of the suspects as 23-year-old Onyemechi Aniobi; Elochukwu Okudo, 25; and Pauline Elechi, 24.
He added,
“Suspects had allegedly kidnapped a 14-year-old girl in Onitsha and took her to an undisclosed location”.
“Consequently, the syndicate contacted the victim’s mother through SMS and demanded ransom of N10,000000 which was later reduced downward after much pleading by the mother.
“Suspects equally sent a bank account number bearing one John Blessing to the victim’s parent to deposit the ransom.
“Meanwhile, the victim who was held hostage for 27days and allegedly raped severally by the suspects was rescued by the police and taken to the hospital for medical examination.”
Mohammed said the suspects would be charged after investigations were concluded.
