Man locates ex-wife who moved out of home over serial abuse, strangles her to death
Cases of domestic abuse are becoming quite alarming lately. Married couples seem to have taken their abusive attitude to another level which now leads to the deaths of their spouses.
A few weeks ago Maryam Sanda was sentenced to death for stabbing her husband to death in Abuja, one would have thought Maryam’s story would serve as a deterrent to many abusers, but the case keeps recurring.
A Nigerian media manager Fola Folayan recently shared another case of domestic abuse which has led to the death of a mother of three in Lagos.
Folayan said the deceased had moved out of the man’s home following the way she serially abused her, but the estranged husband searched for her and strangled her to death at her new home.
She wrote:
“A mother of 3 was beaten to death in my neighborhood by her husband. Crazy thing is, she had left him 3 months ago because of the beatings. He then found where she was to go and beat her there. He strangled her. He’s been arrested
“Crazy thing is how people in the area talked about it. So casually. The women shook their heads sadly and everyone went about their business. The men said na wa o & left the conversation. My cleaning lady said she can’t leave her husband because the next one might be worse.”
