Man arrested for defiling teenager in Ondo
A man, identified as Olamide Awogbayi, has been arrested by the men of the Ondo State Police Command for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old girl in Akure.
It was gathered that the suspect and the victim attended a vigil on Friday at a popular church, located at the Adofure area of the town, and in the midnight, Awogbayi allegedly took the teenager to an uncompleted building close to the church, where he allegedly had carnal knowledge of her.
“The suspect took the girl out when the vigil was ongoing early Saturday and had sexual intercourse with her. The girl did not return to her parents until later on Saturday,” a source said.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, CSP Femi Joseph, confirmed the incident and said the suspect would be charged after the completion of investigation.
He said, “After the suspect had defiled the young girl at an uncompleted building beside the church, while the vigil was going on, he absconded with the girl. The parents of the girl declared her missing, because they could not find her at the vigil, but she was later found with the suspect on Saturday evening.
“We have commenced investigation into the matter and the suspect will be charged after the completion of the investigation.”
