Two Nigerian men – Ayooluwa David Adebakin and Olugu Olisaaemeka Emmanuel – studying at a private college in Kattankulathur in India have been arrested by the Narcotics Intelligence Bureau (NIB) for supplying marijuana to fellow college students.
The duo were arrested on Wednesday after police raided their house in Urapakkam and seized around seven kg of the banned substance.
“We received a tip off about the suspects distributing ganja in sachets to college students. The duo carried the contraband in their bags and sold them to students,” NIB inspector S Prabhakar said in local media reports.
They were remanded in judicial custody.
The suspects had been receiving payment through digital wallets after selling the contraband.
Adebakin, a third-year BBA student, and Emmanuel, a second-year BSc student, reportedly confessed during questioning that they collected cash from the students through payment apps like Google Pay and Phone Pe.
The seven kg of ganja worth Rs 1 lakh was packed in small sachets, said police, who have also seized a weighing machine from their house.
