DJ Cuppy’s tweet on social media giveaways sparks debate on Twitter
DJ Cuppy has explained the reason she does not do social media giveaways to her teeming fans.
WuzupNigeria reports that celebrities regularly do giveaways, which could be in the form of, gifts, trips, free concert tickets, or even cash, to fans on social media.
DJ Cuppy, born Florence Ifeoluwa Otedola aka Dj cuppy, however, explains that she feels like would be paying people to become her fans by doing giveaways.
She wrote on Twitter,
To all my Cupcakes that complain I don’t do Money Giveaways, I hear you… BUT I’ve always felt like that was essentially paying people to be your fans? ??♀️ #TeamCuppy

However, DJ Cuppy’s tweet generated missed reactions on the microblogging platform. While many applauded her over her stance, some suggested she is stingy.

I don’t think that’s the case. It’s simply called Random acts of kindness.. You will be surprised how a little token can brighten up someone’s day..

Abeg abeg abeg. Random acts of kindness should be done privately and quietly. Not for public attention

So true. The moment she starts, the begging will be on another level. It’s already an epidemic here. If she has a foundation, wants to donate to causes she supports or sponsor people to school/business privately, that would be great.

The way I’m looking at it, I won’t be surprised if she already has one.

Is that how stingy you are?? Tomorrow you tell me to stream or subscribe to your YouTube channel.. I greet you ??

@Annie_Perie you’re on point. Paying fans or not, a generous person is a generous person and she’s not one. Many of my friends who aren’t so rich or popular at all do giveaways from time to time. I do too.

You’ve not done half the shit this woman does, half the charity she does, sponsoring different people to sch. But you all come here acting so entitled to her money. Money you didn’t help her make at all. WTF is wrong with Nigerians and entitlement mentality ??♀️??♀️??♀️
— Oluwafunmilayo?? (@FunmiKolz) 28 October 2019
I don’t need giveaways but don’t tell fans they didn’t make her money for her. Everytime an ad is viewed on her YouTube channel by fans she gets paid. She can only become a brand ambassador if she has followership and she gets paid for that. @annie_perie has said nothing wrong

Not true. It’s helping the street. Some people need just a meal for a day whereas others might want to use it for transport or even data to always see you online.
