Five states Hillary Clinton MUST win to become the first female US President
In a few hours, voting would be over in the most powerful country in the world, United States of America.
While there are states who traditionally vote for a specific party, there are also states known to not have a defined preference.
Already, states like South Carolina, Kentucky, Georgia, Texas, Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, Arkansas, Missouri, Indiana, West Virginia, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Kansas, Idaho, North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, Wyoming and Alaska are a no-brainer win for Donald Trump.
It is also known that states like Vermont, Rhode Island, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, District of Columbia, Illinois, Minnesota, California, Oregon, Washington, New Mexico and Hawaii are for Hillary Clinton.
But those are just 37 out of the 50 states in the country. For Hillary Clinton to win and become the first female President of the US, then she must win, in addition to the ‘default’ Democrat states, the swing states:
1. Florida,
2. North Carolina,
3. Ohio,
4. Pennsylvania
5. and Virginia.
These states collectively have a lot of electoral votes and over the past 30 years, they have been won by either of the political parties.
The US election is not won by popular votes of simple majority. Each state won is assigned a quota of electoral votes which go to candidate if a state is won.
There are 538 electoral votes possible from all the 50 states. To become the president a candidate needs at least 270 electoral votes.
