Police arrest, bill Ibadan varsity student N10,000 for not registering his side hustle with CAC [Video]
A student of the University of Ibadan has cried out for help after he was allegedly arrested and extorted by police officers in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, for not registering his business with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).
The man simply identified as King Lana said he was on his way to school along Bodija area of the city when the motorcycle he was riding on was stopped by the officers at a checkpoint.
Lana said after identifying himself as a student of UI and also telling the officers he does graphic designing as a side hustle to make ends meet, they searched his phone and his bags and found nothing incriminating.
He added that instead of releasing him to go after the search, the officers asked if he had registered his business with CAC, a negative response from him landed him in trouble as the officers insisted he would be arrested for not doing so and asked him to pay N10,000 as bail for flouting the law on business registration.
Lana took to his Instagram page to share his ordeal and also posted a video of himself detained in the police patrol van.
