Air Peace evacuates 301 Chinese out of Nigeria

An Air Peace flight with 87 passengers and six crew members aboard from Abuja to Port Harcourt on Saturday skidded off the Port Harcourt airport runway in Rivers State.

The Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), however, said that there were no casualties in the incident.

General Manager, Corporate Affairs of FAAN, Mrs Henrietta Yakubu, in a statement issued on Saturday, said that the runway had since been cleared for normal flight operations to continue.

According to her, the incident occurred during a downpour on Saturday at the airport.

“An Air Peace flight with registration number 5N BRN, flying from Abuja to Port Harcourt today, skidded off the Port Harcourt airport runway at about 1500hours.

“The incident occurred during a downpour at the airport.

“There were no casualties as all 87 passengers and six crew members  aboard the flight were safely evacuated.

“The runway had already been cleared by the authority so that normal flight operations can continue,” she said.
