Chelsea, Man Utd, PSG to battle for Philippe Coutinho’s signature
Chelsea, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain are all eyeing a move for Barcelona star Philippe Coutinho this summer, it has been claimed.
The Brazil international has struggled to impress at the Nou Camp after exiting Liverpool for the Catalan club in January of last year.
Now Spanish outlet Sport claim Coutinho is on the radar of Europe’s biggest clubs.
It is understood Barcelona could be ready to sell the 26-year-old but only at the right price.
On the front page this morning the headline was ‘Admirers for Coutinho’ with Chelsea, United and PSG presented as the leaders in the race for the Brazil ace.
The Blues will only be able to buy Coutinho if their transfer ban is lifted by FIFA of course.
Manchester United and PSG will both look to strengthen this summer as they look for improved results.
Coutinho is not the priority signing for the Red Devils but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keeping tabs on the former Liverpool man.
And PSG want to add quality after falling short again in the Champions League.
Coutinho has made 42 appearances for Barcelona in all competitions this season, netting nine times and providing five assists to his team-mates.
Earlier this season Gerard Pique said everyone at the club was trying to help the former Liverpool man.
He explained:
“Obviously his cost was very high so that means there are more expectations of his performance level.
“It is what it is.
“We have to accept the reaction of the fans because they are our followers but from the inside, we have to give him our support.
“We need him at his best for the end of the season and I’m sure he will be.”
Coutinho moving to United would definitely cause a stir due to his previous spell at Liverpool.
So if he did move to the Premier League, Chelsea could be a better option for the Brazilian.
