The Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LNSC) have arrested a 70-year-old man, Sulaimon Odunsi, and his son over the discovery of a headless body at a cemetery in the Badagry area of the state.

The septuagenarian, his son – Bariyu, 32, – and his friend Emmanuel Ibrahim, 40, were arrested in Oriade Local Council Development Area of the state on Friday morning, the police said on Sunday.

The suspects were under watch as soon as an LNCS official who saw them going to the Iyagbe Cemetery around 11pm on Thursday alerted other members of the community.

When the three men were accosted on their way from the cemetery, they claimed to have gone there for some rituals.

“Around 11pm on Thursday, dogs in the area were barking nonstop. It was not a usual thing and so, an LSNC officer who stays around came out and saw pa Odunsi who’s a member of the community and a stranger (Ibrahim) going towards to cemetery,” the Nation reported.

“He immediately raised alarm and other community leaders came out. They waited for the three men and stopped them on their way back. They claimed they went to the cemetery to perform some rituals.

“But in the morning, people discovered that two graves were opened and one corpse had its head removed. The three men were immediately arrested and Ibrahim confessed he was a native doctor from Meiran. He said he was brought to heal Bariyu of his sickness.”

The Public Affairs Officer (PAO) of LNSC, Olawale Afolabi, said the suspects were handed over to policemen at the Area L Command for further investigation.
