A 70-year-old man simply identified as Pa John has been handed over to the Police after he was allegedly caught pants down forcing himself on a five-year-old girl in Imo state.

The incident was said to have happened in Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo state.

According to a non-governmental organisation, Behind Bars Initiative (BBI) which tracked and facilitated the arrest of the man, the suspect has been charged to court.

The human rights group shared the story on its Facebook page and wrote:

“For weeks, we have been tracking 70-year-old Pa John who was caught pant down forcing himself on a 5-year-old child.

“Our first priority was to take care of the victim (medically), which we have done.

“For weeks, we tracked the suspect with no positive result. We employed #ADR and fish out the suspect from his hideout. Yesterday, he was arrested and handed over to Divisional Police Station Mbaise.

We have reached out to the Police Authority to do the needful by charging the suspect to court.”

The group also added that the case is the fifteenth rape case it is handling between May and June 2019.
