Arsenal F.C. have been crowned Premier League champions for the first time in 22 years after Manchester City F.C. failed to secure victory against AFC Bournemouth on Tuesday night.

According to ESPN, City needed a win to cut Arsenal’s lead to two points and push the title race to the final day of the season.

However, Pep Guardiola’s side suffered a major setback after Bournemouth forward Junior Kroupi fired the hosts ahead in the 39th minute.

Although Erling Haaland grabbed a stoppage time equaliser, it came too late to keep City’s title hopes alive as Arsenal were officially confirmed champions.

The result means Arsenal’s final league game against Crystal Palace F.C. on Sunday will now serve as a title celebration for supporters at the end of a historic campaign.

It is Arsenal’s 14th English league title, moving them behind only Liverpool F.C. and Manchester United F.C., who both hold 20 league titles.

The triumph also marks the North London club’s first Premier League crown since the famous 2003/04 “Invincibles” season under legendary former manager Arsène Wenger, when Arsenal completed the league campaign unbeaten.

After finishing as runners up in each of the previous three seasons, manager Mikel Arteta finally guided Arsenal back to the summit of English football.

The club’s remarkable season could become even more historic later this month as Arsenal prepare to face Paris Saint-Germain F.C. in the UEFA Champions League final on May 30.

A victory would hand Arsenal their first ever European crown and complete what many fans already consider one of the greatest seasons in the club’s history.
