519 patients recover from COVID-19 – NCDC

The Nigeria Center for Disease Control on Friday says 519 patients have recovered from COVID-19.

According to the daily report posted on the agency’s verified Twitter handle, a total of 371 new confirmed cases were recorded in 20 states, taking the tally to 158,042 infections.
The NCDC also added that at least new three persons have died from complications related to the deadly virus.
Nigeria has recorded 1,954 fatalities since the outbreak of the disease on February 27, 2020.
The NCDC’s statement read: “Till date, 15,8042 cases have been confirmed, 137025 cases have been discharged and 1954 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
“The 371 new cases are reported from 20 states- Lagos (101), Rivers (54), Anambra (31), Ebonyi (23), Imo (23), Kwara (22), Kano (20), Taraba (17), Akwa Ibom (16), FCT (15), Abia (13), Kaduna (13), Osun (5), Edo (4), Oyo (4), Kebbi (3), Ogun (3), Ekiti (2), Nasarawa (1), and Zamfara (1)
“204 community recoveries in Kwara State, 167 in Lagos State, 88 in Edo State and 60 in Osun State managed in line with guidelines.”
In a similar development, the country on Friday announced the emergence of Dr. Cyprian Ngong, a medical doctor at the National Hospital in Abuja as the first Nigerian to be inoculated with the COVID-19 vaccine.
The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, as well as some governors, are also expected to receive shots of the vaccines on Saturday.
