45-year-old India returnee, one other die of Covid-19 in Lagos

Lagos State has recorded fresh COVID-19 related deaths.

The state Commissioner for Health, Professor Akin Abayomi, disclosed the development in a Tweet on Tuesday.

He stated that although the state had no fresh cases as at 20th of April, there were related deaths from coronavirus.

According to him, one of the deceased was a 45- year old Nigerian man who returned from India in January.

He Tweeted “#COVID19Lagos Update

“No new case of #COVID19 was confirmed in Lagos on 20th April 2020.

“However, #COVID19 related deaths were recorded in Lagos. One of the deceased was a 45 years old Nigerian male who returned from India in January 2020.”

He added,

The second death involved a 36-year-old Nigerian female with severe underlying health condition. She had no history of travel or contact with any #COVID19 confirmed case.

Total number of #COVID19 related deaths in Lagos now stands at 16

Meanwhile, the Babajide Sanwo-Olu-led Lagos State Government has also promised to start enforcing the wearing of face masks in public places.

This was disclosed on Monday by Sanwo-Olu during at the 7th briefing on coronavirus (COVID-19) at the State House, Marina, Lagos.
