38-year-old man found dead in Asa River, Kwara
Men of Kwara state Fire Service on Sunday recovered the body of a 38-year-old man from ASA river in Ilorin, Kwara state.
The corpse of the middle-age man was removed from the river around Obbo road end of the river, off Wahab Folawiyo( Unity) road in the heart of Ilorin, Kwara state capital.
The state fire service said that it received a report from the traders around the area early on Sunday that there was a flowing corpse of a man on the river around Obbo road area adding that this prompted them to deploy their men to the river.
It said,
“We received a report from one Alhaji Jimoh Mohammed, a trader at Obbo road that the corpse of a boy of about 38 years old was flowing on Asa River, Obbo road area ilorin early on Sunday.
” Our officers from the state fire service were drafted to the area and they used a boat to remove the body from the river. He was identified as Jamiu and we have handed over the corpse of the man to the Police at ‘A’ Division Police station, Ilorin.
Public Relations Officer of Kwara state Fire Service, Mr Hassan Adekunle who confirmed the story to Punch correspondent on Sunday said that the circumstances that led to the death of the man was yet to be known.
“We are still investigating the matter. We suspect that the body of the man should have spent two days in the water, but we are yet to know what led him into the river.
” The matter was reported to us this morning by one Alhaji Mohammed Jimoh who is one of the traders around Obbo road market.”
