A 29-year-old woman died on Monday during an alleged marathon sex with her 31-year-old lover.

The 31-year old lover was said to have become unconscious after the act.

The lovebirds, whose names could not be immediately ascertained, were said to have taken a sex enhancement drug that turned the exercise to a fatal venture.

Though it was gathered the man later died at a hospital on Wednesday, another source disclosed that the man was recovering, but had not been able to speak.

The incident, which happened at Elechi by Wobo Street shocked other occupants of the one-storey building.

Occupants of the one-storey building became curious when the duo did not come out from the one-room apartment on Monday morning, a development that forced them and the police to force the door open and discovered the lifeless body of the young woman and her unconscious lover.

A source within the area, who identified himself as Dira, said the man later died on Wednesday after being rushed to the hospital by sympathetic neighbours, who were assisted by policemen from Nkpolu Police Station in Port Harcourt.

Dira said, “The incident happened at Elechi by Wobo Street. It is a one-storey building. The young woman came over on Sunday, He actually wanted to marry the woman because he had done introduction, according to tradition.

“The young man recently graduated after being an apprentice for some years. The woman visited him at his residence on Sunday and slept over. But on Monday, neighbours did not see them because they did not come out after daybreak.

“They (neighbours) later broke the man’s door, only for them to discover that the young woman was dead, while the man was unconscious. They were both naked. The young man was unconscious while his manhood was still erect.

“With the help of the police, the neighbours evacuated the young woman body to the mortuary, while the man was rushed to an undisclosed hospital. The information available to me is that the man died on Wednesday morning. The neighbours that broke the room saw some drugs suspected to be sex enhancement drugs.”

But a head of a vigilante group in the area, Godstime Ihunwo, said he was aware that the man was recuperating in the hospital, even though he (man) had not been able to speak.

“The person I posted there called me on Monday night to inform me that a stench was coming out from a particular room close to the place we stay to watch the night. I later confirmed that it is the odour of a dead body after forcing the odour open.

“We made an entry at Nkpolu Divisional Police Headquarters and with the assistance of the police, we forced the door open. As we broke the door, we saw the young woman lying on the floor, while the man was on the bed, but was motionless. We later noticed that the man’s eyes were blinking and was breathing slowly.

“We brought the man out and noticed that he had already defecated in his boxers; there was a wound on his left hand as if he hit his hand on a wall while struggling. But the young woman was on the floor with her head open, as if she hit her head on the tiles before she died. She appeared to have tried to put on her pants before she died, as her pants were left on her laps.

“One of her eyes bulged out, while the other was closed, her tongue was totally black and filled her mouth, her neck region swollen, while her private part was swollen. We rushed the man to Teaching Hospital. We learnt he is responding to treatment, but he has not spoken yet. The doctor treating the man confirmed that it was drugs.

“Many concluded that if the man was on drugs, the woman too must have been on drugs. The young woman told her parents that she was attending a vigil on Friday night. The mother of the man is aware of the relationship. The girl came on Friday and we discovered what happened on Monday,” Ihunwo told our correspondent.

When contacted, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Nnamdi Omoni, said the man had recovered, but was with the State Criminal Investigation Department, to explain the circumstance that led to the death of her lover.

Omoni, who confirmed the incident to our correspondent did not give the name of the man and the woman, promised to inform members of the public of any development concerning the matter.
