2020: I escaped kidnap, got COVID-19, spent a week on oxygen – Flying Doctors founder, Ola Brown
British-Nigerian medical doctor, healthcare entrepreneur and founder of the Flying Doctors Healthcare Investment Group, Ola Orekunrin, also known as Ola Brown, has shared her COVID-19 story.
She revealed that she contracted the novel coronavirus and had to be placed on oxygen because she stopped breathing.
Ola via her Twitter handle, revealed she was on oxygen for over a week. She said months after contracting the virus, she still shows symptoms of the ailment.
She wrote,
”This year I was almost kidnapped on the way to a healthcare project in the notorious Birnin Gwari Local Government area.
“I also had COVID19. Despite being fit with no pre-existing conditions, I stopped breathing (a medical emergency) and had to be on oxygen for a week.
“Months later, I still have symptoms of Long COVID and am still recovering gradually.
“One of our oldest board members died.
“He was a chartered accountant who taught me a lot about portfolio management and hedging. 2020, was a tough year with both highs and lows.”
